AUTHOR GUIDELINES

The Manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted should be original research papers that contribute significantly and uniquely to the field of mathematics education. Authors must submit their papers electronically via the (Journal on Mathematics Education Research (J-MER) online submission system. The corresponding author must also declare that the manuscript is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will be disregarded by the Editors.

Structure of the Manuscripts

  1. Title: The title must be clear, informative, and no longer than 16 words.
  2. Author's Names and Institutions: Authors should include their names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses without any academic titles. For joint papers, one author should be designated as the corresponding author.
  3. Abstract, Keywords, and MRBM Classification Numbers: The abstract should be under 150-250 words and provided in both English and Indonesian. Include 3 to 5 keywords or phrases.
  4. Introduction: This section should outline the study's background, review previous research in the area, and state the manuscript's aims, significance, and novelty.
  5. Methods: Describe the analytical tools, data, and sources used.
  6. Results and Discussion: Present the study's results clearly and concisely, highlighting the novelty and contribution to the literature on mathematics education.
  7. Conclusion: Summarize the study's findings and policy implications, ensuring consistency with the conclusions discussed in the manuscript body.
  8. References: List only the sources cited in the manuscript.

General Writing Format

  1. Manuscripts should be prepared on A4 paper, single-sided, and single-spaced. Each new paragraph should start 5 characters from the left margin using an 12-point Times New Roman font.
  2. Manuscripts must be written in English.
  3. The article should be written on A4-sized paper (8-12 pages) with top, bottom, and right margins of 3 cm and a left margin of 4 cm. The text should be justified on both sides (left and right), with a first-line indent of 1.25 cm at the beginning of each paragraph.Top and bottom margins should be 1.5 and 0.8 inches, respectively.
  4. The title should be in 14-point font, centered, with only the first word and proper nouns capitalized.
  5. Subtitles should be in 11-point uppercase bold, starting from the left margin.
  6. Sub-subtitles should capitalize only the first word and proper nouns, starting from the left margin.
  7. Sub-sub-subtitles should capitalize the first letter of each word except for conjunctions, in italics, starting from the left margin.
  8. References should primarily be from the last ten years (>80%), with textbooks minimized (<20%).

Specific Writing Format

  1. Equations and formulas should be numbered sequentially (1), (2), etc., to the right.
  2. Direct presentation of software estimation results is not allowed; they should be summarized in tables.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

  1. Tables are given titles in 11-point font. The title is placed above the table. Tables are centered and referenced in the text. If there is more than one table, they should be numbered, for example, Table 1, Table 2, and so on. Please do not use vertical lines in the tables.
  2. Tables and figures are centered horizontally and referenced in the text. Figures are given titles below the figure. If there is more than one figure, they should be numbered, for example, Figure 1, Figure 2, and so on.

Acknowledgment

Any acknowledgments should be in a footnote at the manuscript's title.

Subjects and Authors Index

Provide an index of subjects and authors, listing key terms and key authors cited in the manuscript, formatted as family name followed by given name.

Citation

In-text citations should include the family name and year of publication, e.g., Smith (2020) suggests... or (Johnson, 2017, p. 5). Multiple citations should be formatted like (Brown, 2018, pp. 5-6; Davis, 2019). Use Mendeley Reference software for citations.

References

In-text citations and reference list formatting should use reference management software such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero. References and citations must follow APA (American Psychological Association) style. It is recommended that references are no more than 10 years old and include at least 10-15 sources.

How to send the manuscript

  1. The manuscript in microsoft word should be sent to the editor by clicking Online Submission tab on our Website.
  2. A brief bio that contains full name, academic title, institution, telephone, mobile number, and others should be written in the fields of data when registering online in the website submission.

Final Decision

Taking into account the results of the peer reviewing process, the decision as to the acceptability of each manuscript for publication will be notified to the author(s) through the website system in the following alternative conclusions:

  1. Accepted without revision, or
  2. Accepted with minor revision, or
  3. Accepted with major revision, or
  4. Rejected.
